Otakon at Baltimore Convention Center


Otakon is an annual three day anime convention held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The convention focuses on East Asian popular culture (primarily anime, manga, music, and cinema) and its fandom. This year, the show opens on August 8th and runs through August 10th.

BronyCon at the Baltimore Convention Center

BronyCon is the world’s largest convention for and by fans of the animated TV series "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." Starting out in 2011 as a one-day event in NYC with just 100 attendees, BronyCon has grown over the years to a weekend-long extravaganza drawing over 8,000 fans from every corner of the globe. Featuring show guests, an incredible panel lineup, BronyPalooza, a fully-stocked vendor hall, screenings, contests and so much more, BronyCon has something in store for everyone.

How to Get From BWI to Washington DC?

Public Transportation options to Downtown Washington, DC

Driving into DC can be really frustrating, especially during special events like The National Cherry Blossom Festival. Aloft BWI Hotel provides complimentary shuttle services to/from BWI Airport and BWI Marshall Rail Station, and you will be able to find several options to get into downtown Washington DC with ease from there.


MARC Train Service (Only runs on weekdays)

MARC train service takes you from BWI Rail Station to Washington, DC Union Station in about 40 minutes. MARC train runs from 4:47AM (BWI Airport) to 10:30PM (Union Station).
Fares: $6 per trip

Amtrak Train Service (Runs daily)

Amtrak is the fastest way traveling to Downtown Washington, DC, which only takes 25-35 minutes from BWI Marshall Rail Station to Union Station.
Fares: $15-$67 per trip



BWI Metro Bus Service

BWI Express Metro Bus provides nonstop service from Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Greenbelt Metro Station, which is located on the Green Line of the Washington Metrorail system. The B30 service runs every 40 minutes, 7 days a week to the Greenbelt Metro Station. There are two WMATA Bus Stops. One is located on the lower level of the International Concourse and the other stop is located on the lower level of Concourse A/B. The B30 will pick you up outside at the bus shelter.
Fares: $6 per trip

BWI Rail Station is served by Amtrak trains on the Northeast Corridor line as well as by local commuter and light rail services from Baltimore, Washington DC, and the surrounding region. A Star-Spangled Summer at the National Aquarium


This September marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore and “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Francis Scott Key’s poem that was inspired by the War of 1812 and eventually became the national anthem we all know today. Beginning July 11, the National Aquarium is celebrating this milestone with a new, limited-edition program featuring themed scavenger hunts, lite fare & more, all for $18.12 admission every Friday between 5 pm and 7:30 pm!
